And the North American Car and Truck of the Year Finalists are…

For the past 18 years, a committee of journalists from U.S. and Canadian magazines, radio and TV stations, websites and newspapers meet once a year and vote for the North American Car and Truck of the Year [NACTOY].

You'll have to wait until January to find the winners for the 2012 edition of the North American Car and Truck of the Year, but the three finalists for each category were announced on Thursday in Detroit.

Marangoni's Range Rover Evoque HFI-R Puts on its Red Shoes

In keeping with its tradition of showing up at the Bologna Motor Show with an impressive concept, Italian tire manufacturer Marangoni chose this year's edition of the venue to reveal the Range Rover Evoque HFI-R.

The first thing that catches your eye as you look at the pictures is the experimental ruby red coloured Marangoni tires – well, for many it will actually be the curvalicious brunette model but that's irrelevant to this story.

Marangoni says that the bespoke “M-Power EvoRed” tires are made from special compounds with high silica content that helps rolling resistance and consequently fuel consumption. The 255/30R20 tires are wrapped around a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels from O.Z. Racing.

In addition, the bodywork of the car has been completely repainted in a special satin paint called Titanium Fluid Metal while the roof, the pillars, the door handles and the grille are finished in gloss black.

Startech Shows Off New Range Rover Evoque at Essen Motor Show

Making its European debut at this week's Essen Motor Show is the Startech tuning program for the new Range Rover Evoque. Startech, which is a sub-division of the Brabus brand, first revealed its take on the British crossover model at the Dubai International Motor Show earlier this month.

Rather than improve its off-road capabilities, the German tuning company says that all of the available upgrades for the three- and five-door variants of the Evoque were developed to make the crossover more capable on the road where it will spend if not all, most of its time.

The product lineup includes a new front apron, a roof wing and a rear apron that houses a diffuser and the reshaped quad tail pipes. The crossover model's sportier stance is further enhanced with suspension kit that lowers the ride height by up to 30mm (1.2-inches) and custom-tailored alloy wheels offered in various color combos and 20- or 22-inch diameters.

Rumors: Range Rover Mulling “Grand” Evoque

The Range Rover Evoque hasn’t even hit the market yet, according to a report from UK’s Autocar, Land Rover’s people are debating whether or not to add a bigger version to its line-up, which at the time being, consists of a "coupe-ish" 3-door model and a more practical 5-door variant.

If the British company goes ahead with this plan, it would allow them to bridge the gap that exists in the marque’s (Range Rover, not Land Rover) range between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport.

2012 Range Rover Evoque: Videos and Photo Gallery from Presentation

Yesterday, we showed you the first official photo of Lande Rover's new small SUV, the three-door Range Rover Evoque. Now we bring you a full set of images and a video from the glitzy presentation that was held in partnership with Vogue magazine in London [hence the glamour shots, which we hope you don't mind], as well as a second video clip with 'walk-around' beauty shots of the production version of the LRX Concept.

The new 'baby' Range Rover will descend upon on us at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September and will go on sale from next summer. Few technical details were released on Land Rover's smallest, lightest and according to the company, most frugal vehicle in the brand's lineup, but we do know that customers will have a choice of both a 4WD and a 2WD version.

Furthermore, it was revealed during the presentation that Range Rover's newly appointed Creative Design Executive, Victoria Beckam (yes, the former Spice Girl), will make use of her styling expertise [sic...] on a special edition version of the Evoque. Enjoy the photo gallery and videos after the break.

New Range Rover Evoque: First Official Photo of Compact SUV

We just received the first official photo of the all-new Range Rover Evoque, which is the production version of the LRX Concept. We're still gathering details so stay tuned on Carscoop for more.

[Update] This here is the all-new Range Rover Evoque, a compact SUV that we came to know as the Land Rover LRX, which was the concept version that previewed the production model. Land Rover unveiled its new 'baby' SUV at an exclusive event in London for guests attending a 40th birthday celebration of Range Rover held with VOGUE magazine.

The new Range Rover Evoque has remained remarkably true to the LRX show car as the only visible differences concern some minor details such as the exposed door handles and the larger (and apparently far more practical for everyday use) exterior mirrors.

"The all-new Range Rover Evoque is an important step for the future continued success and growth of the brand," said Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover.
