Formula 1: Ferrari to Unveil its 2012 Car on February 7

The 2011 Formula 1 season is certainly one Ferrari would like to forget. Despite former champion Fernando Alonso giving it his best, in the end the Scuderia had only one win to show and a poor third place in the constructors’ championship.

Ferrari’s head of communication, Luca Colajanni, told Italian publication Autosprint that the 2012 car, upon which the Scuderia has focused its resources since August, will be revealed at the first official test of the new season on February 7 at Jerez racetrack in Spain.

Video: Ferrari 458 Italia Challenges a Koenigsegg Agera R

When your ride packs a high-revving, 570HP V8 matched to a dual-clutch transmission for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph) then you’re inclined to believe that you're the king of the road.

But as fast as your ride may be, there will always be something faster. And as the owner of a Ferrari 458 Italia found out, the Koenigsegg Agera R that was launched earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show is one of them.

Formula 1: Sauber is Third Team to Leave FOTA, Toro Rosso to Follow?

A spokeswoman for the Sauber Formula 1 team has confirmed to ESPN that it has sent a letter to the Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA), informing them that it will no longer be part of it.

The move makes Sauber the third team after Red Bull and Ferrari to leave FOTA which, ironically, was formed on July 2008 in a meeting in Maranello in order for the F1 teams to present a unified stance in talks with FIA and the Bernie Ecclestone-owned Formula One Group that owns F1’s commercial rights.

Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Slowly Roasts in the Middle of the Road in Dubai

Even though a Ferrari on fire is nothing new these days, in any other part of the world, a brand new or relatively new 599 GTB Fiorano slowly burning in the middle of the road like an over-sized shish kebab would have at least caused some commotion. But not in Dubai, the land of all things grand, ambitious and insanely expensive.

There's a couple videotaping the roasting Italian spécialité but nothing much else is happening with the drivers on the road just continuing their way.

We don't know how the accident happened nor if anyone was injured – though we assume that if the driver was still inside, someone would have stopped to help. Video follows after the jump.

Luckily, no fatalities were reported though ten drivers suffered bruising and some minor injuries.

“The accident occurred when the driver of a red Ferrari was switching from the right lane to the left and skidded,” Mitsuyoshi Isejima, executive officer for Yamaguchi Prefecture’s Expressway Traffic Police unit told Bloomberg News. “It was a gathering of narcissists," said Isejima who added that the drivers were aged between 37 and 60 years old.

Ferrari and Red Bull Quit F1 Teams Association over Rules Disagreement, FIA Announces 2012 Entry List

Now we know what Ferrari CEO, Luca di Montezemolo’s statements were all about when less than a month ago, he hinted at the Scuderia leaving Formula 1, something that the company had then denied claiming that its head honcho’s words were misinterpreted.

Well, leaving the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) is an action that is not really open to any sort of interpretations - especially when Ferrari itself issues a lengthy statement explaining why it is leaving the association that di Montezemolo himself was presiding over until 2009.

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride: this perfectly describes Mark Webber’s participation at the 2011 Formula 1 season so far. Despite driving the best car on the grid and being in the top-performing team, the Australian not only watched his younger teammate clinch the title with considerable ease, but until the last race of the season didn’t have a single win to show for himself. Buy Five Ferraris, Join the Exclusive Prancing Horse Club

It seems like some Ferrari owners are more equal than the others. At least that’s what the company’s chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, implied when he told Autonews Europe about Ferrari's plans to create a collectors’ club with the purpose of giving loyal customers some extra privileges.

Di Montezemolo conceived this idea after the roadster version of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, the SA Aperta, which had a limited production run of only 80 cars, caused friction between Ferrari and some of its customers.
